Grooming Contract

The Dawg Shoppe

Cancellation Policy

To cancel or reschedule your appointment you must provide at least 24 hours notice, as anything less does not allow sufficient time to fill the gap. Any appointment canceled or rescheduled within 24hrs of your appointment time will incur a fee equal to 50% of the groom price. Missed appointments will be canceled 15 minutes past the scheduled appointment time and will be required to pay for the missed appointment. If the groomer agrees to complete the groom past the cutoff time, a late fee of $1/minute will apply in addition to the groom price.

A card will be kept on file for each client and may be charged accordingly for services rendered, as well as for fees occurred in violation of this cancellation policy.

Pets are accepted for grooming only under the following conditions:

1. The animal is fit and healthy. Any grooming which takes place on an elderly animal or animal with health conditions will be at the owner's risk. Grooming may expose pre-existing health or skin problems for which the groomer/company cannot be held liable.

2. The animal is up to date on their rabies vaccine.

3. In the event of any injury or health concern, the groomer/company is authorized to contact a licensed veterinarian of their choosing, and may authorize the vet to treat the pet as necessary. In the case of any pre-existing conditions this will be at the owner's expense.

4. If your pet is matted at the time of the appointment they will be taken as short as necessary to safely get beneath the matting. Small tangles in the face/ears/tail can typically be brushed out if the pet is tolerant. In the case of extreme matting, the pet may develop skin irritation or hematomas in the ears, and on occasion behavioral changes may be witnessed. These issues are caused by the condition of the pet and not neglect on the groomer's behalf, and the groomer/company will not be held responsible for any of these conditions.

5. If the pet bites or fights during the appointment the owner will be informed. Depending on the severity of their behavior, they may require medication or to be referred out.

7. Payment in full for services rendered is due upon pickup without exception. Payments may be made either by cash or card. Checks are not accepted.

Late pickups:

When scheduling, please plan to pick up your pet promptly. The last groom of the day will be given an estimated time for pickup and notified 10-20 minutes ahead of when the pup will be ready. Any pickups more than 15 minutes past the agreed-upon pickup time or past when the dog is finished (whichever is later) will be charged an additional fee of $1/minute. If the final pet of the day is left for over an hour without contact from the pet parent, a $100 fee will apply and the pet will have to remain kenneled overnight, at the owner's risk. Please note that the pet will be unattended until the next shift.

Fleas:

Any dog with live fleas at the time of service will be given a flea bath and charged accordingly at a minimum of $20. This bath is non-systemic and will not prevent additional fleas from hopping on once the dog returns home. It is the owner's responsibility to ensure that all pets are up to date on effective flea and tick medication to prevent additional fees. Any pet visiting repeatedly with fleas may be removed from the client list.

Injuries:

In the event of an accident or injury caused by the groomer, the pet parent will be notified immediately. Depending on the severity of the injury and the pet parent's comfort level, the groom may be continued or the pet may be taken straight to the vet. There will be a charge for any work completed, and vet bills will be covered by The Dawg Shoppe if necessary. The pet must be seen by a licensed veterinarian promptly to receive reimbursement/coverage of vet bills.
